VENDORS WARNED NOT TO PURCHASE TOBACCO FOR FOREIGNERS

Mponela police have issued a warning to chiefs in the area, advising them to inform their subjects not to sell tobacco to foreigners.

Officer in Charge Makalani Mbwana stated that there have been complaints about vendors from Dowa district purchasing tobacco on behalf of Zambians, which is a concerning development.

Mbwana emphasized that the law will be enforced if anyone is caught engaging in this practice.

Speaking to Dowa FM Online TA Mponela says selling tobacco to foreigners at lower prices results in the country losing foreign exchange earnings, as tobacco is a significant export commodity.
